Whet your appetite, with this tangy, delicious appetizer!

Serves 8


1 1/2 cup Bread Crumbs
1 Tsp Salt
450g Fresh okra
1 1/2 cup Butter milk
1 Lettuce
1 Tomato (chopped)
1 Sweet Onion (sliced)
1 Green Bell Pepper (chopped)
3 slices Bacon
Peanut oil

Lemon Dressing

1/4 cup Fresh Lemon juice
3 Tbsp Basil (chopped)
1 Tsp Salt
1 Tsp Paprika
1/2 Tsp Pepper
1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil


1. Combine breadcrumbs and salt. Dip okra in buttermilk; dredge in breadcrumb mixture.

2. Fry okra in peanut oil till it turns golden brown in colour.

3. Arrange lettuce leaves on a serving platter; top with tomato, onion slices and bell pepper. Add lemon dressing, toss to coat it. Top it with fried okra and sprinkle with bacon.

4. Lemon dressing: Combine first five ingredients in a bowl. Add oil, whisked till combined.
